Anniversaries

Anniversary parties have certain traditions, and traditions hold charm, and present the perfect opportunity to make traditions of your own. Most people only celebrate specific anniversaries, such as silver (twenty-fifth anniversary) or gold (fiftieth anniversary) anniversaries, but remembering the special occasion with a celebration, whether it is a celebration for two, or a celebration for all the family and friends, is never out of place.

Most often the biggest anniversaries are celebrated with large gatherings, but perhaps you want to surprise a special couple with a romantic anniversary party, planned especially for two. It’s easy to forget that with work, children, and day to day demands on our time, we should take time to appreciate those special moments life has to offer. Often just taking time to do a special kindness makes all the difference in the world.

If you know of a couple who inspires your faith in love and marriage, or a couple who is just too busy to take an evening for themselves, you can arrange an easy, inexpensive anniversary party in a basket for them, and even include a coupon for free babysitting, to give the terrific twosome a chance to celebrate alone. All you need is a good spaghetti sauce recipe, a little imagination, and a little bit of your time, to give an anniversary gift that is sure to be appreciated.

You will need the following:
1 small wicker laundry basket
1 red and white checked table cloth
2 red and white checked napkins
1 sealable jar (decorative with wire and rubber seals, or mason jars with lids)
1 jar gourmet mushrooms
1 small block Parmesan cheese
1 package spaghetti noodles
4 clear, plastic plates
2 place settings of plastic flatware
2 clear, plastic champagne flutes
1 bottle wine or sparkling grape juice
1 gold paint pen
Homemade spaghetti sauce
Optional: small cheese grater, and a shiny, new colander

Make homemade spaghetti sauce according to your own recipe, or add diced onions and green peppers, minced garlic, and a few beef bullion cubes to prepared spaghetti sauce, let it come to a full boil, pour into preheated (fill with water, and put in the microwave until very hot) jar, and seal. This will keep at room temperature for over a week, since the acid in the tomato will cause the jar to seal. Take a photo of the happy couple, and put copies in one plate (attach with crazy glue) add their names and wedding date with gold paint pen, use a little more of the crazy glue, and put the second plate on top, for a customized, festive feel. Line the basket with table cloth, wrap flatware in napkins, and arrange all ingredients in the basket. This can be covered with clear or incandescent film wrap, and tied with a large, gold, wire ribbon for a custom look, attach an anniversary gift tag, complete with a coupon for free babysitting, and deliver the basket a day or so before the anniversary, for the perfect anniversary party made especially for two!
