Sometimes, we tend to think of balloons as decorations that often go unnoticed, or something to add to a bouquet for a change, but balloons are versatile, colorful, and can be used in a variety of ways to make your party fun and fabulous. Whether you are planning a birthday party, or a 4th of July party complete with your own red white and blue cool-off water balloon wars, parties just don’t seem complete without balloons.
Whether you live in a small town with no pool, or you just want a fun way to cool off, water balloon wars can be loads of fun. First, enlist the aid of others. If the water balloon war is to be a type of block party, or just a small gathering of friends, it is a great way to cool off on hot, summer days.
Begin by writing the invitations on an inflated balloon. Be sure to include, time, place, and a description of the party. Make sure everyone knows there will be teams, that they will get wet (and should dress appropriately) when and where the balloon war will be held, and if there will be refreshments available. Also specify what (if anything) others need to bring (such as towels) what the rules are, and give safety tips. Then, deflate the balloon, put it into homemade camo envelopes (color or glue brown, green, and black construction paper together to form a camo envelope) and deliver to guests, either by hand or through the mail.
Purchase a nozzle for your outdoor faucet (and any neighbor who might be willing to help fill balloons in their yards) divide up into teams, and begin by filling balloons and carefully placing them into large garbage cans, laundry baskets, whatever you have handy. Let your imagination run wild. Allow trash can lid shields, bunkers, and designate a safe zone. Everyone goes to their team base, and let the balloon war commence!
Once the games are over, something as simple as hot dogs on the grill, sodas, and chips are a fitting truce to end your balloon war games!
